WHAT OBEDIENCE DOES

This piece of Wyllie scul?ture is not a widely known one. It highlights the fact that his work could also be very serious and make important points.

Under the railway carriage, which is full of different kinds of shoes, shoes belonging to men, women and children, are the words...

"What Obedience Does'

The sculpture is a commemoration of those who lost their lives in concentration camps in the Second World War.

As with all Wyllie sculptures, it raises questions - how could such terrible events have taken place - and it also asks people to continue to ask questions.

Obedience, without question, was a central part of the events which led to what we now know as the holocaust.
