The Why?s Man

"My art is place specific and people specific." George Wyllie

LEARNING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

George Wyllie's sculptures were very often displayed 'out of the gallery', and he was critical of being confined to the gallery.

In a spirit of exploration, he also encouraged education 'out of the classroom', and frequently involved young people in creating public sculptures.

Reflecting that, the Whysman Festival includes events - even if some of them are in galleries! - in which schools can participate beyond the classroom.
