THE LAST LAUNCH

Since October, paper boats of all sizes have been arriving from schools for The Last Launch (originally planned for 31st December, 2012). Unfortunately, the event, had to be postponed because of high winds but it is being rescheduled, possibly for May, on the anniversary of the launch of George Wyllie's Paper Boat.

It will be a homage to George Wyllie, with over 1300 paper boats being launched on the River Clyde, as a salute to the artist from the pupils of the Clydeside schools.

The paper boats will be taken out into the river, while the Paper Boat Song recorded by pupils of John Paul Academy, Glasgow plays. A lone piper will play a lament as they are launched.

More information about the event will be posted on this page as the plans for the re-scheduled event are confirmed.
