The Why?s Man

"My art is place specific and people specific." George Wyllie

Back to The George Wyllie Education Initiative in Schools

Just before the October holiday, P7b, Kilbowie PS, West Dunbartonshire spent its Art Appreciation Week investigating George Wyllie and his work. The pupils made their 'Wyllie Wall' which is now on loan to the exhibition to the Mitchell. They created drawings and poems, made lots of paper boats, and did a lot of research about George Wyllie.

P7b made a big paper boat for the Boat Shed together, and later tried out building larger sculptures too, with the help of a local construction company.

Lisa and Kiaran from P7b took part in the Press Preview Day before the exhibition opened, and later the class sent out its own press release.

Sam and Ciara acted as guides for the Cabinet Secretary for Education & Lifelong Learning when he came to visit the exhibition, and then the class invited their own MSP into school to see and hear about all their 'Wyllie work'.

P7b is currently working on an ebook to showcase their work.
