The Why?s Man
"My art is place specific and people specific." George Wyllie
FERGUS THOM, YOUNG SCOTTISH FILM-MAKERGEORGE WYLLIE IN 140 WORDS...
George's work is hugely inspirational. As a young practicing 'creative' it is refreshing to find an artist whose work is so accessible - adults and children alike can enjoy and understand his art. I am forever in awe of the layered nature of George's work: it may be quirky and humourous on one level, but it's also deep and meaningful and reminds us that art need not be pretentious to pack a punch! His work teaches us to be inquisitive, to ask questions, and to "be suspicious". It doesn't tell us what to think. It asks us what we think and that is, for me, the most inspirational thing of all. It makes us ask questions we may never have otherwise asked and even goes so far as to question those questions.
