In the days after a nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima - Japan, George Wyllie visited an obliterated Landscape Culture and Community. He there absorbed mans capacity for blind action :-
With words actions and craft he later proposed that :- Before every step there should be thought about where that step is taking you.
By making, placing and moving pale representative ghosts around our landscape and beyond.
Where precious skills and Industry were threatened by unilateral greed, he posed a question. - Hand Craft at home or Foreign Slavery.
He re-presented life stories, ideologies, materials and craft from my specific geography + His work gave those significance.
He asked for a considerate Society and for a gathered and distilled consciousness.
Where armed submarines drift ...he sailed a fragile paper Boat.
...Commonly piloted by himself with family.
