THE STRAW LOCOMOTIVE (Glasgow, 1987)
Mayfest, 1987 and George Wyllie created a life-size locomotive,
made from straw.
It was suspended from the Finnieston Crane, as 18,000 real locomotives had been as they were loaded onto ships.
The Straw Locomotive commemorated the men who had made those trains and the industry in which they had worked.
